Her practice includes counselling and litigation in diverse topics, including wrongful termination, employment discrimination, retaliation, sexual harassment, and other employment related claims.

Prior to entering private practice, Ms. Álamo-Rivera served for over eight years in the Puerto Rico Department of Labor and Human Resources, where she held various leadership roles, including Acting Secretary of Labor and Solicitor of Labor. During her tenure, she led policy initiatives related to labor reform and played a central role in the interpretation and implementation of Puerto Rico’s employment statutes. She was responsible for reviewing and issuing legal opinions, drafting regulations, and overseeing the Department’s legislative strategy, including agency recommendations on approximately 400 labor-related bills and participation in over 100 public hearings before the Puerto Rico Legislative Assembly. She also drafted the Department’s
Guidelines for the Interpretation of Labor Legislation in Puerto Rico (2019) and the Guidelines on Workplace Harassment in the Private Sector of Puerto Rico (2021), as well as policies and publications on employee benefits, wages, and discrimination. Ms. Álamo-Rivera presided over rulemaking hearings and helped develop regulations concerning the annual bonus, work schedules, unemployment benefits, and other labor topics. She also served as legal advisor to the Minimum Wage Evaluation Commission, contributing to legal analysis and policy development related to wage-setting and industry-specific compensation standards.

Her government experience provides her with in-depth knowledge of public administration, human resources management, procurement, and contracts, as well as a practical understanding of administrative processes and government relations. In the private sector, Ms. Álamo-Rivera advises employers on workplace policies, internal investigations, regulatory compliance, and personnel matters, and represents them in litigation involving wage and hour claims, discrimination, retaliation, harassment, reasonable accommodations, and wrongful termination. She is also a Notary Public and speaks at legal education seminars and employer training programs.
